On Sunday 22nd April, Calamatta Cuschieri teamed up with Malta Clean-Up as part of Earth Day 2018 to help clear Malta of waste.

The Calamatta Cuschieri team, along with family and friends, descended upon Buskett Gardens for this year’s edition of Earth Day, where multiple bags of recycling and waste were collected, with these being disposed of appropriately at the end of the event.

Michael Galea, Group COO commented “As CC we are proud to have contributed to this noble cause. Taking part in Earth Day 2018 was important for us to be able to demonstrate our support and raise awareness on a matter which is high on our agenda. The event also served as a timely reminder of our collective responsibility towards taking care of our precious environmentWe truly appreciate our staff’s support in helping us make such events a success.”

Malta Clean-Up was created by Ms Camilla Applegren to help rid the Maltese Islands of waste found in the environment and to create a national registry of illegal dumpsites. Around the globe, today there is in excess of 100 million tons of illegal garbage lying around. Unsurprisingly every day this number continues to increase.

In addition to Earth Day 2018, Calamatta Cuschieri Group are taking part in a number of other events throughout the year for deserving causes, such as Pink October, Movember, and the blood donation drive. In recent years, Calamatta Cuschieri Group has set up the CC Cancer Foundation, as well as organising well attended annual events, such as the Walk for Cancer.
