COVID-19 brought about an economic recession however it has also led to structural changes. With mobility and in-person interactions restricted, the demand for certain telecommunications services increased. Thus, telecommunication companies were well-positioned to take advantage of new business trends and the introduction of home-schooling and consequently the increased demand for their services. Deutsche Telekom was also ideally placed in the past period to increase its revenue growth.

In the third quarter, the revenue of the Group was up by 1.8 % YoY in organic terms that translated to €26.9 billion top-line gain from July to September. In the first nine months of 2021 revenue was €79.9 billion, 8.8% or €5.6 billion higher on a comparable basis, illustrating a substantial increase to which all revenue streams of the Group contributed.
