On July 27, 2021, Alphabet reported its second quarter results for 2021, illustrating once again the underlying strength of the company’s business model as the covid-19 pandemic accelerated the trend to transmission to online related services and the cloud. Alphabet reported strong earnings growth in the quarter under review, with total revenues increasing by $23.6bn or 61.6% on a comparative basis, from $38.3bn in Q220 to $61.9bn in Q221. On a quarterly basis, total revenues climbed by 94.1% (Q1220: $31.9bn). This strong quarterly performance is primarily attributable to an improvement across all of the company’s business segments, namely continued strength in Google Search, YouTube, and Google Network.
