As the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic and industry after industry is bearing the economic brunt that has ensued from the outbreak, many local companies and businesses have been offering a helping hand in any way they can.
At a time when the retail sector has been particularly hit by the health measures leading stores across Malta and Gozo to close their doors and factories around the world to temporarily shut down bringing production to a halt, local clothes manufacturer Bortex has launched its own battle against the pandemic by switching up its manufacturing procedure from men’s suits to face masks and medical scrubs for front-liners.
A leading name in the world of formal tailoring, outerwear, casual clothing, footwear and accessories established in 1964 by Sunny Borg and with its own Gagliardi range, Bortex’s Maltese production facility is expected to produce anywhere between 20,000 and 30,000 pieces per month.
Over the past few years, Calamatta Cuschieri (CC) has helped a number of businesses grow and thrive by assisting them in raising funds or listing through the Capital Markets. One such company has been Bortex. Operating in a highly competitive market, the Group sought to increase its market presence and raise capital to finance further growth, while appointed CC as the Sponsor and Registrar.
The bond issue enabled Bortex to expand its business operations by opening a number of Gagliardi retail outlets abroad and developing the site in Mriehel, amongst other things.
CC applauds Bortex’s initiative in aid of the Maltese COVID-19 response movement.
Private companies who are in need of face masks or medical scrubs can get in touch with Bortex directly via email at [email protected]oup.com.
